Alternative Ways to Withdraw Paypal Funds in the Philippines
Withdrawing funds from Paypal using “withdraw to bank account” or “withdraw to card” are not the only ways to get funds from Paypal to any Philippine bank account. There are other lesser known options, and I had identified five ways to get those funds in the Philippines.
I have personally used only one of the options listed here. Except for Payoneer virtual bank account where I am currently invited to participate in their pilot program, I have not personally tried out these services.
I had identified other options because there are more Filipinos who like to pursue ways in earning online. However, getting customer support help in withdrawing funds is really not that good, when someone gets into a problem withdrawing funds. Just like what this guy experienced: what started out as a dull bearable pain, came back and turned into a headache, then into a migraine – I hope this story doesn’t get worse than that.
PLDT Online is a huge portal where one can shop, pay bills and buy e-load online. I am more interested in their Smart Money reload facility. If you own a Smart Money account, just withdraw cash directly from verified Paypal or Moneybookers account. I think the transfers are immediate except for the first withdrawal, where there is a need to submit documentation to verify one’s account. There are corresponding fees applicable depending on the how small or how large the amount to be withdrawn.
i$end
The i$end feature is the one that comes with the desktop version of Chikka Txt Messenger. Getting funds from Paypal is reported to be immediate: it will just take a few minutes that funds get credited into one’s Smart Money account. However, there are no enough writeups to see satisfied and dissatisfied users (I found only one through Google, as of writing this post), so it is safe to assume that there are less people who opted to try out this feature.
Payoneer debit card using its virtual bank account
UPDATE: This is already implemented. Enabling the virtual bank account costs $20 per year.
I received my Payoneer card from oDesk more than a year ago. I have used that card not only to receive earnings from that freelance site but also to receive Paypal earnings in just two days. Paypal to Payoneer transfers will be available soon to the card holders. As one of the participants in their pilot program, I am very satisfied with the smoothness of their Paypal to Payoneer transfers. The only problem that I had was when I discovered that my Payoneer virtual bank account was not listed as one of my Paypal bank accounts (I did not lose any money anyway). ReviewMe, Elance, Freelancer and iStockPhoto are some of the sites that offer debit cards powered by Payoneer, aside from the one that I use with oDesk.

Xoom (do not use)
For a time Xoom was used to withdraw funds from Paypal when Paypal did not offer the facility to withdraw to a local bank, credit or debit card. Withdrawal is supposed to be quick but many users have now reported that their Paypal accounts turning into limited status after trying the Xoom facility. I still included this one since it was once an a facility to withdraw funds. Please do not use this option to withdraw Paypal funds in the Philippines.
a funny Happy Slip video about Xoom
Individuals who buy and sell Paypal funds (too risky)
I keep on seeing plenty of individuals and even businesses who are roaming around in a lot of making money online forums to promote the trade of selling Paypal funds in exchange for G-Cash, Western Union or Smart Money funds. This kind of exchange is too risky because the other party can simply run away with the funds. Transact using small amounts with people who have gained enough reputation: this is best checked through trust ratings voted by many members in several make money online forums.
These alternatives may be more efficient and better than the popular options provided to withdraw Paypal funds.
Have you ever used any of those alternative services or know of any other withdrawal alternatives that I had missed out? Please share your experience through the comments.

Before I wrote that post, I did not think Smart Money was important. These alternatives are here in case my Paypal transfers doesn’t work with Unionbank anymore.

The “guy” in the article looks like me
My problem with Unionbank is still unresolved. I don’t have time to go to the bank to pick a quarrel there, i am too busy with office work right now. Thanks for the post Gem, I’ll read this again and again.
I have a Payoneer card from oDesk, can I use it for Paypal? Sorry di ko pa binasa yung binigay mong link.
I guess I need to get my Smart Money card na, I applied for it last January 30, mukhang dumating na yung card, check ko bukas.

I’m glad I bothered to check this post. I’ve some winnings courtesy of Jaypee’s commentator of the month contest. My paypal is not yet verified. It’s pretty useful knowing my options through your valuable post. Look at that, I’ve got a SmartMoney Card. Now, I only have to apply for UnionBank’s EON card to have my paypal account verified? Is that how it goes?

Really good info! I for one have applied for the EON card, eons ago, but never really used it. This was before paypal began to support Philippine banks. Either I use the same paypal funds to buy me stuff online, OR, transfer to my friend’s US paypal account and ask him to withdraw it for me (long time ago).
Now, I just opted for the bank transfer (to my pnb payroll account, no maintaining balance!).
Cheers

Gem
March 18th, 2009 at 10:41 pm #

Thanks for sharing about your success with that bank transfer from Paypal to your PNB payroll bank account (without any maintaining balance). Does this transfer work for other PNB accounts too (like regular savings or credit accounts)? How many days would it take to do the entire transfer?

Verifying your Paypal is often done with Unionbank EON card but I’ve seen other people use their credit cards successfully.
Most Paypal transactions including online purchases and withdrawals require verified Paypal accounts, so in any way, you will always find this step very necessary.

Hi Joy!
The one at pinoymoneytalk is not the official list (and you’ll see plenty of others), but it is the same as that in Ebay: http://pages.ebay.ph/bankwithdrawal/bank_codes_ph.html (Note that Paypal owns Ebay).
Have you also asked kung merong EFT charge ang mga papasok na funds from Paypal sa Maybank account mo?
Yun Unionbank EON, by the way, walang maintaining balance at wala ring EFT charges. Marami rin akong tungkol sa Paypal sa post na ito: http://www.theladyprogrammer.com/one-stop-odesk-corner/

I have not tried “withdraw to card” option but I’ve witnessed other people getting it longer – around a week or so. It will take longer if there are bank holidays in between, such as this holy week (I am also affected with the delay too).
I’ve written a post, not long ago, explaining the difference of these two: Withdrawing Paypal Funds: Should I Choose “Withdraw to Bank†or “Withdraw to Cardâ€?

Have you opened an account with Landbank already? Same can be said with BDO, they also offer only $100 initial deposit on dollar accounts.
However, I would not recommend opening dollar accounts here, because the money is stuck in the bank. You’d better try Unionbank EON which does not require a minimum balance (you can have P0.00) in your account.
Oh and I’ve just checked Paypal, they also don’t do transfers to dollar accounts.

I sell at eBay International since 2006. Since PayPal was not yet offered to the Philippines that time, I use Xoom for my transactions. The charge was pretty high though and I was forced to split the charge with my buyer just so they can pay me. It worked for me until PayPal finally opened their doors here.

I used to reload my smart money using Paypal, however they are not supporting this feature as of post time. I have tried emailing their customer support but I have received no reply to any of my notes. I guess they have abandoned this service already.

Thanks for sharing. I have yet to see a very good customer support within our country when it comes to getting Paypal funds. Even Paypal withdrawal to any local banks are even a pain to some people. I am quite hesitant to try out new methods because of many of these services offer poor customer support.

You cannot withdraw to smart money cards. You can only withdraw to a card if it has a VISA LOGO.
I can answer ANY question anyone may have about PayPal for very small donations.

You don’t really need an eon card, you can verify your account with smart money. The 4 digit code or confirmation number are texted to your mobile.
shulace
January 15th, 2010 at 2:19 pm #
Just to add more information, EXPUSE numbers or the 4 digit verification code, is used to confirm a card. So kung nag coconfirm ka lang ng card for the sole intention of verifying your paypal account then theres no reason for you to do it again. Pero if you have intentions of using the card for buying purposes, dun mangagaling ang pera na ipambibili mo online, then yes! Your gonna have to complete the link and confirm process,

PayPal will attempt the withdrawal to a dollar account pero it will fail and you will be charged $30.00 for return fees. A transfer will only be successful if your dollar account is actually in the US.
Reason: Each paypal account is programmed to withdraw funds according to the currency of it’s designated country. So pag withdraw sa dollar account mo the bank will reject it kase PHP ang denomination. Pero kung US bank ang nilagay mo, their system will recognizes this and will transfer it in USD. Personally, it think it’s because paypal wants us to have to go through their conversion rates dahil dagdag kita sakanila yun. The add a 2.5 spread over the exchage rate quotes kaya!!

Nope, only cards with visa logos can be used for withdrawals, why would you want to do that though, may 250php fee kaya to withdraw to a card. Mag EON ka, since it comes with it’s own bank account number, withdraw mo dun, enroll mo sa mobile baking, and then request for the transfer of funds from eon to smart money, naiwasan mo pa yung 250 na charge

Kung meron kang dollar account dito sa Pinas then pag register mo sa paypal United States and inilagay mo instead of PH. Successful ba ang pag withdraw?
Meron akong dollar account sa RCBC, Ni register ko sa paypal in PH then pag withdraw ko it has been denied after couple of days. I tried it again then it is still denied. My bank account has been denied 2 times.
