Are you Twitterpated on Twitter’s Money Makers?
I see a number of bloggers who are starting out with social networks such as Twitter and Facebook. I have been into Twitter before sponsored tweet opportunities had started out. Now I noticed an increase in the number of people who use Twitter to tap the potential of earning bucks from their Tweets.
In case you are not yet aware on what Twitter is all about, it is a site that allows anybody to answer the simple question: “What are you doing?”. However, I don’t use Twitter only to report what I am doing. I use Twitter to announce that I have a new blog post, share some news or ask help. This combination is the most effective way for me. The video below describes what Twitter is about.
Twitter in Plain English
Follow me on Twitter if you like. I have already gained some followers in this social network site.
Like blogging, there are some sites that offer opportunities to make money from Twittering away. Except for SocialSpark, I have not used all of these sites personally so I cannot guarantee success with these services.
- Be-a-Magpie: I think this is the most famous Twitter service where one can earn from sponsored Tweets. It sends out sponsored Tweets out to the web under one’s Twitter name at regular intervals, depending on the settings of the user. Be-a-Magpie makes sure that the sponsored Tweets match the non-sponsored Tweets that were already delivered. The minimum cashout from the site is L50 which is given through Paypal.
- TwittAd: TwittAd allows one to earn from one’s Twitter profile by posting ads on the background. The service uses Twitter API to push the advertisements into the profile background. Accumulate $30 for posting ads and one can get it right away in their Paypal accounts.
- SocialSpark: I am still writing for SocialSpark and one change that I noticed is the existence of CPC (cost per click) opportunities. These CPC opportunities can be posted in blogs, Twitter and Facebook where a SocialSpark blogger gets to earn a fraction of a dollar for each click.
- dNeero: I had always known dNeero to be a place where bloggers can get to engage themselves in the hottest discussions. Now, dNeero is now exploring social network sites. In Twitter, dNeero members have to follow dNeero account in Twitter and must give a valid reply to the conversation that are posted regularly in Twitter.
- TwitterHat: Even if there are no cash earnings from TwitterHat, I still include this one in the list because it still allows members to get gift cards and rewards. TwitterHat offers an alternative URL shortening service where a member earns points from clicks that are made by followers. Enough points can be exchanged for gift cards and other rewards. However, take note that TwitterHat rewards are suspended at this time.
Of course, we should not forget other known ways to make money from Twitter, such as promoting affiliate links. Don’t get too twitterpated with these ways of making money with Twitter: I also believe that like TV and blogs, too much advertising can do more harm than good.
Have you earned money already from these services?

great guide here Gem…
I did not know one could actually earn money from twittering…
well, aside from the cpc on facebook
Thanks! Konti pa nga ang nakaka-alam kung paano magkapera sa social networks.
Hello Gem!
I only heard about Be-a-Magpie and dNeero. Actually, I go to my profile lately just because I wanted to earn through answering dNeero’s tweets. But that’s about it. Haha.
Am I Twitterpated? I think not. Ever since I lost my PR, I have been slacking off my earning money online activities (except from dNeero). I am actually taking a break and have not earned a single dollar ever since.
But if I do start again, I’ll be looking back on this post. Haha. Great list, by the way.
I am a twitter follower but not a twitterpated like you said. Hmmm, let me think about this. ^_^ Yun nga lang sobrang busy ko rin kasi offline eh…
HAyyy….
Was gonna post an article about this but you beat me to it. Hehe Anyways, the method I chose among the ones listed here is Twittad. Although its popular, I don’t like Be-a-Magpie coz I don’t the way it works. I don’t want to spam my followers.
Wait, I didn’t mean spam but having these “sponsored” tweets might make me lose followers. Maybe, I can do a survey and ask my Twitter followers if they won’t mind receiving “sponsored” tweets or not.
Hehehe.. It will still come of as spam to them, if you keep on mentioning those kinds of advetisements.
But hey, I did not lose followers doing sponsored posts on this blog and my other personal blog. I think you’ll lose more if there is nothing to see on your blog.
Not so active in micro blogging and Twitter – but perhaps its the last place online where I should put ads.
I just think it’s too personal a service you don’t want your followers to see ads when most of my blogs already have ads.
Wow, nice list. But I’m going to take a rain check on this one. I’m not going to say this has no place on my twitter, because I just might eat my words later. hahaha. I’m a tad uncomfortable about placing ads on it. Well, that’s just my opinion anyhow.
Never thought tweets can be used to earn online. But it’s kinda uncomfortable because tweets services may be too focused and personal compare with blogs
Interesting article I did not know that you could make money with twitter. Which one do you frequently use? A few bucks could really help especially in this economy.

BTW: Thanks for sponsoring my spring fling contest.
I abandoned my twitter account months ago for a sudden lack of interest in microblogging. However, having found a more interesting way to microblog via plurk, I got hooked up again (to plurk this time).
But if you can earn while microblogging your time away during breaks in the office, I see no reason not to give twitter another chance. Great post!
I want to point out a problem with the twitter-monetizing solutions. The reason I follow people is because I’m interested in them and/or their blogs etc. Not because of non-related twam or spitter (spam on twitter). If I see magpie messages or other massages that are clearly spam I usually tell the person sending them to stop. If they don’t they might very well get unfollowed by me. I get already a very large amount of information on my twitter timeline (as I’m following lots of people) so there’s not room for spam.
The real problem actually is the my inability to opt out. I don’t want magpie messages and other than unfollowing users sending them I can’t opt out… This seems to me a bad thing.
Note that before you join into some of these twamming-schemes that there is a real risk of loosing followers as I am certainly not the only one disliking this type of spitter.
Hey, It’s OK to advertise YOU and YOUR blog and YOUR site and what YOU dig on Twitter!. That’s why I follow you in the first place!…..
Cheers

Opt out? I think Twitter is like small version of blogging (microblogging). Like “regular” blogs, we could not easily opt out from reading those “obvious” sponsored reviews when we visit other people’s blogs.
I believe everyone has their own “Twitter” tastes. Some people are cool so they don’t mind getting sponsored Tweets. However, some people kept on sending sponsored Tweets about Magpie and nothing useful or entertaining.
Nakita ko na itong video somewhere, and yung video, yan ang nagpabago ng tingin sa akin sa Twitter. Na appreciate ko ang twitter more
And nice post nga pala. Hmmmm try ko nga yang magpie na yan
Before landing here, I was actually checking out Twitter and thinking of signing up. I’ve resisted for so long but maybe I actually will give it a try.
Wow, I never realized that making money from twitter is also possible. I thought from the start that twitter is just one way of increasing a blog’s traffic. Thanks for the info.
i have not tried twitter nor have checked on it, did not know also one can earn from it. it seems nice to be promoting your blog and earn at the same time.
i had no idea there are sponsored twits too
Whoah.. ang alam ko lang kasi yung Magpie saka Twittad.. didn’t even know there’s a bunch of ways to make something out of social networks.
Yes, there is. I keep on discovering new innovative ways to earn from social networks – especially in Twitter, aside from the ones I had in this list.
