Do Payoneer Cards Still Work with BDO ATM Machines?

Oct 28, 2009

I had been able to get my second Payoneer card several months ago (I think last May or June) and I got that activated just before my first Payoneer card expired last August 2009. I got my Payoneer card free through oDesk.

The new card’s physical appearance is no different from the old one. It’s still the sleek shiny and black that looks better than most local debit and credit cards I’ve seen here in the Philippines. Once more, I get to use the card for three years before I get to contact Payoneer again for a replacement card.

I went through the instructions of reactivating the card several days after I received it through snail mail. I contacted Payoneer’s live support to activate that new card and disable to old one. I remember chatting to the support for about 15 minutes just to perform this one. My virtual bank account too, was transferred from my old card to the new one.

Ideally, this card should work with any ATM machines and credit card terminals that bear the Mastercard logo.

I was excited in using this card, only to notice later that they won’t work with Banco de Oro ATM machines anymore. I always get an error message from any of their ATM machines. I’m not sure if they don’t work with BDO Mastercard credit card terminals but I sometimes notice that my card is declined, even if my card has funds loaded in it.

oDesk Payoneer cardI have no problems withdrawing funds from Metrobank and BPI ATM machines. But I would still love to have my Payoneer card work well with BDO ATMs because these are more accessible to me. Metrobank and BPI ATMs aren’t safe places to withdraw funds here in Baguio.

I keep on wondering if I am not the only Payoneer card holder experiencing problems with BDO ATMs. Right now, the only solution I can think of is to contact both Payoneer and BDO for this concern.

If you had encountered the same problem, suggest on what’s the best way to deal with this or even provide possible explanation why my card doesn’t work with a specific bank ATM, let me know through the comments.

    Hi,

I am also experiencing your problem, It seems that BDO banks don’t accept our Payoneer Debit cards. I do think this happens in this new batch/series of this cards. I got mine last August this year. I also had a bad experience with BDO with regarding to my EON Card. Withdrawal fee on their ATM cost Php. 500 while other bank just had a withdrawal fee of Php. 12. So big differences. Beware.

PS. I love your site and this site also is the one that encourage me to do freelancing even in just a part time basis hope that I can be a full time freelancer in the future.

    Best regards,

Hi Gem! I have withdrawn my odesk pay from BDO last week using the Payoneer card. I will be watching this post closely, because I use BDO to withdraw from my account every payday. I also use BPI, but I use BDO more.

Ate Gem, did you have to pay for the $10 activation fee for your new Payoneer card? I have mine BUT haven’t activated it yet. Used my UnionBank debit card to fund it, but it didn’t allow me *_*

No, I was one of the lucky ones who did not pay the $10 activation fee. I was lucky simply because I happened to get the card during the time Paypal waived their activation fee.

No, you can’t use any bank account, ATM or even credit card to fund your Payoneer. You can easily fund that through oDesk, or any other online site that can pay through Payoneer (provided that you had linked up your Payoneer card to these sites).

I have a question though, sorry I just got confused, I’m new on these payoneer, eon, paypal thing.=)After ko po bang maverify ang PayPal account using Payoneer, where can I withdraw my PayPal funds? Can I still use my EON, even hindi ito ang ginamit kong pang-verify ng PayPal account? Thanks in advance!

I think BDO only withdraws funds 5k below. I tried withdrawing 10k or more in one of their atms but it always rejects my card. BPI was the most friendly atm machine I have used so far. After I have activated my EON card, I only use my payoneer card to shop and buy groceries.. “dun lang sya walang fee eh ” :p and besides sayang ung funds mo kung lagi kang magbabayad ng 1-3usd a month.. EOn only charge 350Php annually.

    Hi,

Clarisse here *again*. I always visit your blog, but it’s only the second time I’m leaving a comment on your post (the first was when I was still a newbie). Thanks for your advice. :)

About this issue with the BDO ATM machines, you’re not alone. I am also experiencing the same, and I am very unhappy about it…huhuhu..I am not sure why, but Metrobank and BPI charges 100php per transaction (including balance inquiry).

I wish I’ll be able to withdraw using BDO again!

Keep it up. You’re an inspiration! :)

    Happy Freelancing,
    Clarisse

Balance inquiry on both Metrobank and BPI ATM are still free for me (I’m a regular user on both banks these days). But I get charged around P100 for every ATM withdrawal.

    And, thanks. Happy freelancing too!

    Hi,

Your blog has been very helpful to me since I’m a newbie at Odesk. Just want to share how frustrated I was when I first loaded my payoneer card. I opted for immediate loading that says I will be charged by $2.50 then the funds will be available within 2 hours. To my surprise the total amount deducted to me was $16.47 including one time charges for loading.

Then I tried to withdraw at Metrobank ATM machine,I first inquired my balance then proceeded to withdraw. A message prompted that a P200.00 will be charged by MBTC aside from the charges that Payoneer will deduct. I cancelled that transactions and decided not to withdraw anymore.

From loading my card to trying to withdraw from Metrobank I incurred a total bank charges of $24.43. Nakapang-hihinayang..that’s around 1k na rin.

I have not withdraw my earnings wait…but probably will try BPI later.

Thanks for the information that you always share…sana nde ka magsasawa.

    Best regards,
    Carol

I think the best way to withdraw from oDesk is Paypal or Moneybookers, then withdraw your money using your Unionbank EON card.

Paypal – 3 days processing fee, fee from withdrawing below 7,000 = P50 then P12 withdrawal fee from any ATM. Total = P62 pesos

Moneybookers – takes a week to transfer from MB to your EON account, but they don’t outrightly convert your money to peso, so when it enters your EON account, Unionbank would be the one to use their exchange rate.
Withdrawal fee from MB – 1.80EUR (around 108 pesos), then the withdrawal fee from any ATM – P12. Total = P120
