Dubai is never tired of coming up with another wonder that the world looks up to. Just last year Dubai was proud of their underwater hotel. This time they had just opened successfully opened Burj Dubai to the public today. This building now owns the title as the World’s Tallest Building with its height of 818m or 2,694 ft. Thus, Burj Dubai is aptly called the superskycraper.
The construction of this building started in 2004. This structure contains a total of 169 floors, with the top floors cooler by 10 degrees than those at the bottom. The 76th floor contains the world’s highest indoor swimming pool. A mosque can be found at the 158th floor.
The Burj was intentionally made as a building residence. Giorgio Armani, the famous Italian designer, even took part in designing some rooms in some floors. With that, this building is meant for high end VIPs.

That’s very interesting. So Dubai has beaten Petronas Towers. By the way, can you do your freelancing work at the 169 floor of this building, do you think? I can’t. It’s either I’d be looking out the windows for kamikaze airplanes or I’d have my ears to the floor, trying to divine tremors. Ahehehe

You fear that building? I have fear of heights too. But I think I can do freelancing work at the topmost floor, as long as I’m not looking down at the ground.

Reminds me of the Towers of Babylon. The mid-east sure leads the buildings of the highest of highest in the ancient it was for the gods and to showcase their massive wealth – babylonia used to be the wealthiest cities of them all. What does Burj in Burj Dubai mean?

Burj – means “tower”, as I researched on this post.

“Dubai is never tired of coming up with another wonder that the world looks up to..”
I guess so. Unfortunately, Dubai’s 61 billion dollars debt is also a great wonder.

Yes, the debt was also controversial. I also wonder if Dubai will be able to recover from that.

It’s a really impressive structure, always kept me in awe even while seeing it everyday when I was still working there. Dubai has a lot of impressive mega projects, some finished and some still on hold. Sadly enough you should look into the conditions of the people working on these projects. Kaawa-awa yung living conditions nila if you can even call that it “living”.

So it’s really true, about what is reported about the people working there. I saw the pictures of how the working conditions were when this particular building was erected. I also learned that the pay rates are also low.
