The financial crisis is far from over. Financial analysts say the crisis will still remain for several years.

News over the internet spoke the same thing: General Motors had filed bankruptcy protection. This hundred year old automaker had already released a list of 14 plants that are to be closed – the list is published in this GM website.

The entire GM will not be closed off to production. They will still be producing Cadillacs and Chevrolets and produce less of Buick and GMC. As a result, around 20,000 jobs will be lost.
I feel sad to the growing number people who are losing their jobs due to the US economic recession. My country is affected by this economic downfall. Several days ago, it was all over the news that the Philippines is already on the brink of recession. Like some people had noticed, I came across this new search engine that had been a buzz over the web. Duck Duck Go is actually a search engine – and obviously a new player in the market. However, people seem to remember this site by its first two names Duck Duck.

Like the biggest search engine Google, Duck Duck Go adapted a similar site design, except that the Duck Duck Go graphic above the search form uses more vibrant colors.

I gave this search engine a few runs. I was not disappointed at seeing that this freelance blog had been also indexed by this one. SEO professionals might be disappointed to see the Duck Duck lists only the first six top results, unlike other search engines which normally display ten searches on the first page of the results. I can not also see other options on how I am able to refine my existing search, except those suggested links to other site searches – I think Duck Duck Go should consider having this feature seriously.

Duck Duck also lets any user add this site to any Firefox user’s list of search engines. I was able to add this search engine without any problems.

Duck Duck has clearly modeled itself on the biggest search engine players. I’ve met a few search engines here and there, and got them featured, but I think this new search engine might find difficulties knocking out the three giants Google, Yahoo and MSN.

If you happen to own a HP Pavilion or Compaq Presario laptop that you’ve bought between August 2007 to March 2008, then your machine’s notebook battery might be one of those that results to fire hazard. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission, together with HP, has just released this HP battery recall announcement over the web. Using these batteries can result to fire hazard, as there were already two reported incidents where the cause of the fire damage was nailed down on the overheating of these laptop batteries.

HP estimated that there are 70,000 batteries that are affected by the recall. HP is willing to replace those recalled batteries for FREE.
