Duck Duck Go: An New Interesting Search Engine

Like some people had noticed, I came across this new search engine that had been a buzz over the web. Duck Duck Go is actually a search engine – and obviously a new player in the market. However, people seem to remember this site by its first two names Duck Duck.
Like the biggest search engine Google, Duck Duck Go adapted a similar site design, except that the Duck Duck Go graphic above the search form uses more vibrant colors.
I gave this search engine a few runs. I was not disappointed at seeing that this freelance blog had been also indexed by this one. SEO professionals might be disappointed to see the Duck Duck lists only the first six top results, unlike other search engines which normally display ten searches on the first page of the results. I can not also see other options on how I am able to refine my existing search, except those suggested links to other site searches – I think Duck Duck Go should consider having this feature seriously.
Duck Duck also lets any user add this site to any Firefox user’s list of search engines. I was able to add this search engine without any problems.
Duck Duck has clearly modeled itself on the biggest search engine players. I’ve met a few search engines here and there, and got them featured, but I think this new search engine might find difficulties knocking out the three giants Google, Yahoo and MSN.

I visited the site and tried searching for my blog using my main keyword and it was the first result LOL! Yes, today, it will be hard competing with the big 3. MSN and Yahoo are already having a hard time keeping up with Google. I think the future of search will be real time conversation like what the search feature of Twitter is doing.
Any company who focuses on this one will reap big rewards in the future.
Great research Gem!

hmmmmmmm the first 6 links are the one displayed first and after that it’s extended by another six list… The interface seems a bit awkward , It has the potential it just needs proper funding for it to compete…

Yup, I tried to find out where they got that name. Siguro marketing tactic. It’s not a site for kids though, buti kung search engine ng bata.

You may be right, the owners of that search engine business might not have enough resources – but if this little search engine surprisingly becomes a hit – who knows, that site may have the same features as that of those leading search engines that we know.

I’m agreeing with this. Very successful companies often smell gold in places where there’s still a potential for a big opportunity.

Yes, this search engine is better than the other small search engines that I’ve seen – I even found one that did not get this blog indexed, despite the fact that this blog existed for over a year.
