Entrecard Kicks It Up a Notch
I’ve been exploring ways on how to improve my Alexa rank on my blogs. For one, I followed the popular advice to install the Alexa widget and the Alexa toolbar. The ranking improved, from a 2 million to 1.5 million in less than a week. I could not really say whether it was from the installation of the Alexa widget and toolbar, because I installed Entrecard code at the same time.
What is Entrecard?
Entrecard provides an innovative solution in getting traffic to one site. It prompts other bloggers to visit one’s blog and drop his or her personal Entrecard. The Entrecard is basically a 125 x 125 pixel graphic that acts like a personal business card. It is like an invitation to visit one’s site. But it is easy to abuse the system – I had to admit, I tried dropping up to the limit of Entrecards of up to 300 per day – and I find it difficult to read (and even leave a comment) on all of the 300 sites that I’ve visited. For many Entrecard is simply used to put in more traffic in the hopes of getting noticed. Since everyone in the Entrecard community speaks and promotes his or her blog, it can be quite difficult to gain a loyal follower of readers.

Entrecard credits is gained mostly through dropping and receiving Entrecards. When enough credits are accumulated, it can be used to buy an advertisement on another site – which means one’s Entrecard graphic is prominently displayed to entice another site’s visitors to visit the blog. Some sites are cheap, and others are expensive.
Get More Quality Comments and Build Loyal Readers
Entrecard has recently launched a partnership with SezWho just last week. I registered with this new service and installed the required JavaScript code and I was on the go! Although I still needed to work out the code (it overlaps some of the text here), I had to arrange the location of the SezWho rating after the post for another time because I do not have a fast connection to easily revise this site. Nevertheless SezWho provides the facility for any reader to rate my posts as well as provide ratings for each individual comment.

It looks like Entrecard had successfully motivated their Entrecard members to earn more Entrecard credits by leaving thoughtful comments on the sites that they visit. Two of my recent posts suddenly gained more comments after the installation of SezWho. To discourage the members from leaving two or three worded comments like “great post”, comments that are written by the members are left to the community to rate. Poorly rated comments and comments that seem to look like spam do not get any credit at all. To be fair, after the community gets to have their share of rating comments, Entrecard has devised their secret way to provide the proper credit for comment points!
Responsible Blogging
Entrecard is strongly promoting their vision to see their Entrecard members as the best commentators in the blogosphere. This would truly change the notion that Entrecard is a mere kickoff to oodles of traffic that will simply improve off one’s Alexa ranking and other indicators. I hope Entrecard finally succeeds in making more bloggers do their duty not only by writing posts but also by visiting others. Better traffic and loyal readership is gained by leaving well-thought out comments on other blogs – and not by simply dropping a card out.

Hi Gem
I visited your site once last week when I added you to my blogcatalog I guess (not sure). I’m sorry I didn’t paid much attention to your overall site at that time. I came back and just happen to know that you are from Baguio
I’m from Baguio too! but I’m here in Manila right now working my ass with this 10hr dayjob.
I’m new to blogging and recently added Entrecard to my blog. I just have a problem with sezwho since it is slowing down my blog to load. Is there any way to uninstall sezwho? I tried to google search for it but to no avail.
Thanks Gem.
I’m going to subscribe to your feed. You do have lots of cool post here to read.
Bobby
Nice work here. Cool. Seems I got another blog to visit regularly. Good luck and more power to you! Yeah, entrecard do helped bloggers, esp newbies like me getting some traffic and most of all, discover great blogs.
@Bill
It seems that you got no problem leaving a comment this time. I’m using blogger in draft though, so there could be issues.
@Bobby
It’s really a comfort to know another blogger from Baguio – I’ve met other bloggers from the Southern Luzon and Visayan region – but rarely do I find bloggers up here, and not everyone (even many professionals!) know about blogging!
@Bloggista
Thanks! I’m waiting for the upgrade of my connection to DSL (most of what I publish here is done over a dial-up connection). I’m really dying to know more about other neighboring blogs like the one you have.
@Bobby
I forgot about the uninstall SezWho thing! If I were to remove that one, the first thing that I would do is to remove the SezWho code that you got into your blog in the first place.
If there is an option in your SezWho account that allows you to close the account then do so.
Finally, contact their SezWho support, so that they can give you the instructions on how to uninstall it – or better yet, help you optimize the SezWho code so that it runs faster on your blog.
Hi, I just visited your site. i’m dropping some ec’s for you. have a great weekend.
Hello Gem,
Thank you so much for leaving me a comment the time I was sick… So you’re from Baguio, I love it there. TC, just dropping some ec for you
Hi there Gem,
You know what? We have the same experience with Alexa ranking. After I became part of Entrecard, the rank of Seek No More went from about 2M to around 1M in just 2 weeks.
About the SezWho thing, well I find it kinda problematic really. One of my blogs (Nesting Buddy) with SezWho appeared a little diorganized and clattered. I posted this problem in their forum already and, hopefully, they can fix it by giving us some more options on where to put the links.
@Sonn
Thanks for the compliment! Getting my pretty face posted at some blogs is part of luring visitors to my blog. That gave me a new idea for an interesting blog post that I’ll be posting next week – thanks for this one too!
@Emmyrose
Nice to hear from you! Welcome back (to the blogosphere!)
@Kirhat
I really like SezWho in my blog. I just hope they can fix those issues soon. Thanks for contacting support.
I have found an article which says that entrecard destroys your PR. I don’t really know if it is true. But i think that guys had some reasons why he didn’t continue using entrecard. According to him; his PR dropped.
That’s not true. Get into Entrecard and look at those most popular Entrecarders: many of them have their own PRs. I have actually seen one that had PR 5.
I had been using Entrecard for over six months already. Check the PR rating of this blog’s homepage too (I have PR3 as I am writing down this comment).
Thank you for clearing this up Gem. I guess i have to continue my entrecard hobby. hehehe. What’s wrong with that guy? It’s hard to choose whom to believe. But i think i should believe. You have a point and proofs. Truly, there are a lot of entrecard members who have high PR.
Most people who lost their PRs are doing paid reviews. But it is also possible for other blogs to lose PR even if these blogs don’t do paid posts. During the last two rounds of PR changes, I’ve seen many bloggers who still have their PRs even if they do paid reviews.
