UPDATE: The steps illustrated here is obsolete. Here’s the new tutorial on how to verify Philippines Paypal account using Unionbank EON.
Chances are, you got into this post because you need a Unionbank EON card to verify your Paypal.
If you have a Payoneer card already, you can use it to verify your Paypal account in a faster way.
However, if you need two cards verified with a Paypal account, or you simply do not have a Payoneer card, then you have to start the trek to the long wait right away.
Here are the steps:
- I enrolled in a Unionbank EON account online. I waited for around two weeks because the bank encountered some problems. I had expected getting the card within a week after registration.
- When the card finally came, I went to the bank to claim it. I shelled out P850 for the account – P350 for the annual card fee and P500 for the deposit. I had to put in some money because Paypal requires some cash for the Paypal Expanded Use (EXPUSE). Paypal deducts $1.95 for this.
- I had to wait for another day to activate the card with an ATM.
- Once activated, I have to enroll in their internet banking. I waited two days to get it activated.
- I logged in my Paypal and linked this card within the site.
- I got into my Unionbank EON account and saw the $1.95 deduction – in Pesos.
- I have to wait for another 3 days for the EXPUSE number.
- When I got the EXPUSE number, I was able to confirm my card. I finally had a Verified Paypal account!
A verified Paypal account is needed to withdraw Paypal funds to any Philippine bank account. Unverified accounts do not have this capability.

Hello. Meron akong paypal and I work on odesk too pero di ko pa naveverify yung paypal ko.. Tanung ko lang kung pwede ko iwithdraw yung money to my own bank account using the Eon card o kelangan magopen pa ako ng account sa kanila? I have a BPI account kasi tsaka may charge din ba yun?
I also didn’t know that there had to be a deposit of 500. Ng naginquire ako sa kanila ang sinabi lang nilang babayaran ko 350 for the card.

Yes, you need to open a new bank account with Unionbank. Get an EON account with them. To clarify, the P350 required by Unionbank is just for the card, so they are right about that. What the bank did not tell you is that kailangan mo magdeposit ng pang verify ng Paypal which is worth $1.95 (around P200 lang, not the P500 as I had stated in the post). If you don’t deposit the amount, you cannot verify your Paypal (mag-e-error).
Hindi pwede ang BPI cards to verify your Paypal account. However, some credit cards also work well in verifying Paypal.

Hi gem, i already have the money in my paypal account and just recently applied the Eon Card, means that it would take 1-2 weeks to wait for my card to come.
Now my question is, is it possible to transfer the money to a unionbank account, which my father owns the account and NOT an EON Card Account(it was actually his GSIS account then he would like to lend it for me for a while) and would like to use his account to withdraw the money. I really can’t wait 1-2 weeks since i really needed the money. Will it be ok? i hope you know this kind matter. tnx

No, your Paypal account name should match the name of your bank account. You just really need a bank account in your name for that.

Hi Gem ano po gagawin ko dito dahil marami akong bumali balik pag link sa eon card ko ito ang sinabi sa paypal. This card has been disabledfor use on paypal. you cann add a diferent card. If you want still like to use this card fax a copy of your card statement shoeing the 4 digit code and a copy of your drivers license or other photo id. you must use this form for your fax cover sheet. Not using the fax cover when you submitting your documents could result in a processing delay. yan po ang nakalagay ano po gagawin ko..

Hey gem, but I thought the Payoneer card could not be used for Paypal verification, how come your reply to Anonymous seem to indicate that it could? I work with GAF too, but I think you have to pay some money to have the card sent to you.

In oDesk, getting Payoneer card is entirely free (we don’t pay for upgraded membership to get a Payoneer card), but the initial payment of the card comes with the activation.
GAF (and other freelance sites) have a different system/way of doing things – such as paid membership to get a Payoneer card.

I don’t know if this would help pero kung may epassporte account kayo pwede din pang verify sa paypal. I have verified my paypal using my epassporte and had been withdrawing funds from paypal using my epassporte debit card. Question ko lang Gem, di ba pwede i withdraw funds from paypal using the Unionbank EON debit card? Kasi it seems parang pang verify lang ang gamit based from what I’ve read so far, baka naman pwede ring i withdraw funds from paypal to your EON debit card, can you please shed some light on this? Actually mas okay pa ito kaysa claiming earnings through US dollar checks from online sites – which takes 45 days to clear and needs to be deposited to a dollar account. That’s just a small inconvenience compared to the ones who tried to earn online long time ago.

Hi, I am currently experiencing that on paypal and I am waiting on my EON account and its going 2 weeks now, the problem is on Oct 24 my fund will be returned because Paypal has a 30 day limit. Question, can I use other’s credit/debit card just to confirm my account on paypal? I really have to get my money. I linked it on my Metrobank savings acount.

Just another info about Eon card:
1. Your Eon card is also a savings account which you can use to withdraw from Paypal.
2. Deposit not less than 200 Pesos if u want to get verified on Paypal then call UB customer service for the EXPUSE after you link your card.
3. You can use eon to purchase online or even engage any online business. You can checkout Global Infinity Income site for such opportunity.

Hi im sorry if na answer na eto im really confuse with this pay pal thing, anyways im new with odesk just wanna ask, what do i need, order for me to apply in pay pal? do i need to have a credit card first? and in signing up in pay pal which one do i choose? personal , premiere or business? as ive understood sa post mo kasi ate gem I first need to have an union bank eon account right? and when i get my card thats the time i can apply for pay pal right? correct me if im wrong ha hehehe.. kasi when u apply sa pay they ask you for a certain credit card number and some 3 digits as well so im guessing you need to have that union bank eon card first before you can apply sa pay pal? thanks whoever is able to answer my questions. I went to Unionbank yesterday to open an EON account. And it’s true you have to wait for 2 weeks to claim the card. And according to you it will take at least 6 days for your account to get verified. And another 4 days to withdraw your money.My problem is, I have already money waiting to be withdrawn from my paypal account.It was transferred yesterday, November 03,2009. My question is how many days does Paypal allow to withdraw your money from your account?

hayzz,,,sa akin mjo narelieve na ako using Eon account tho dpa ako ngwithdrawn ksi wla pa akong EXPUSE…in my case, it only took one week when i got my card…taz mdli nlng ang pglink pro dpt mgdeposit ka muna..kainis UB ksi they wont tell u specifically na gnito dpt gwin pti pgchange ng PIN ang gulo….so better get an Eon account

Yes, kailangan ng deposit just to cover $1.95 charges, kahit na may laman ang Paypal mo. Remember that EXPUSE is a security measure done by Paypal to verify that you are legit.

Hello! I have a few questions. I read this post pero I just skimmed through the comments so I’m not sure if these are asked already. I’m only 16, can I apply for the EON card already? Does paypal accept underage credit cards (for lack of a better word :p) Also, I only really need paypal to buy some things online (because I’m pretty sure my parents won’t allow me to use their CCs)so if ever I get an EON card will I be able to shop online with it (is it a CC)? I have an account in oDesk, and I already got my Payoneer Mastercard(it takes 1 month). I decided to verify my Paypal Account using EON, it’s because EON is much cheaper to use rather than Payoneer. My teammates in oDesk use EON Card too, because they can’t afford Payoneer.
Can you share a thought about this? I know using Payoneer is faster but expensive. Which do payment method do you prefer, Payoneer or EON.

Payoneer offer a free card yes. But too bad you can’t load a fund privately. In my case im iiving in a place kung saan walang branch ng Union Bank. I have my payoneer card. I told my bf to send me fund using his credit card. Yes it loaded i wait for about 2 days then i got a messg. telling i can’t load fund privately unless i have a payment from odesk. That sucks! I really dont have time to go to the other place just to verify my paypal account.
I thought paypal allows user to load fund either personal or not as long as you can afford to load a fund. But i was wrong . Useless padin kahit me payoneer ka. Ako $20 na nilagay ko peo hindi inaprove. Badep talaga. Ang arte ng payoneer hayst.

naverify ko na paypal acct ko using my sis in law’s CREDIT CARD. pero nag expire na accdg to paypal… DO i need to verify again?
