Another frequent question I get from some new oDesk freelancers is that they are not able to link their Paypal accounts to their oDesk email. I’ve decided to write a tutorial guide complete with screenshots that will help users with this problem. If successful, funds should successfully be withdrawn out using Paypal method in oDesk.

You need:

  • oDesk email (to determine oDesk email, hover over Profile and Settings at the top right part of the page, then click User Info and note down your oDesk email).
  • personal email listed with oDesk (this is also listed below your oDesk email in your User Info)
  • Paypal account (you need an account with Paypal, sign up for a FREE Paypal account now)

Steps:

  1. Login to Paypal. Go to Profile > Add/Edit Email.

  2. You will be presented with a list of email addresses associated with your Paypal account. Click Add to add a new email.

  3. Enter your oDesk email address, then click Save.

  4. You will be asked to confirm that email address. Note that the oDesk email address is added but shows an unconfirmed status.

  5. Check your personal email that is associated with oDesk. You should see an email containing the confirmation link.add email in Paypal
  6. Enter your Paypal password that is asked after clicking the confirmation link. Registration should be successful after clicking the link.
