I decided to write a new tutorial on how to link Paypal to Unionbank EON account to replace the old tutorial I’ve written previously. I noticed that the process of verification with EON accounts is now a bit easier and simpler than the one I’ve experienced.
Below is the summary of steps:
- Unionbank does NOT need any minimum balance requirements. However, one must pay P350 to open up a bank account and the accompanying Unionbank EON card. That amount represents the annual fee of the card, which always due every year. If you fail to pay P350 on the following year, then the card is automatically deactivated.
- Take note of the information written on the Unionbank EON card. The 16-digit number in groups of 4 at the front of the card is always referred to as the card number. The smaller number below your name is the bank account number. The bank account number IS THE ONE TO USE for verifying Paypal account.
- You need the following:
- EON card and bank account number
- valid email address
- valid phone number
- valid postal mailing address which should be the same as the address indicated in your Unionbank EON card
- at least $1.95 converted in Peso deposited in the EON account – this is around P200 in exchange rate at this time. That amount shall be taken away by Paypal for verification. (Note that $1.95 is returned back into one’s Paypal account after a successful verification).
- Sign up for Paypal, choose Philippines then click the preferred account. Usually, a Personal Paypal account is enough. Make sure to use the same details that you had used with your Unionbank EON account. (If you want to know the difference between Personal, Premium or Business Paypal account, then read this previous post: Signing up with Paypal, which account is suitable?
- Confirm your email address by clicking the link in the verification email that came from Paypal. You will need to enter your Paypal password to complete this step.
- Go back to the Paypal page, and just below the welcome line with your name click on the Get Verified link.
- Login to your Unionbank EON banking and search on the transaction history for the VISA Expanded USE charge. Remember the 4 digits that appear after the word VISA.
- Switch back to the Paypal page and enter those 4 digits into link and confirm your debit or credit card.
How to Activate “Withdraw to Bank Account” Feature
I always get to pay less fees and get those Paypal funds early using withdraw to bank account option. Please read my previous post: Withdrawing Paypal Funds: Should I Choose “Withdraw to Bank” or “Withdraw to Card”?
- Login to Paypal account.
- Click Withdraw tab, then click Withdraw to your bank account.
- Fill in the information required. Although the video demonstrated how to add a Unionbank bank account, ANY OTHER PHILIPPINE BANK ACCOUNTS that are assigned Philippine bank codes by Paypal can be used: participating Philippine banks and their bank codes
Puwede po kaya yung BDO Visa ATM card instead of EON card? Wala po kasing Unionbank dito sa amin.

At this time you can’t use other ATM/debit cards to verify Paypal. Only Unionbank EON card and a few credit cards (I don’t which) work with Paypal verification.

Can I link my EON debit card without confirming my bank?

The bank must be first confirmed before I can link my EON debit card?
I already have more than Php200 initial deposit on my EON debit card.
Paypal sent already 2 small deposits on my bank last Feb 5, 2010 and today is Feb. 10 already. My Eon transaction history until now have not shown any history regarding the paypal deposit. grrr!
I always get denied error by the issuing bank when I try to link my debit card.

The process of verification does not involve any confirmation of a bank account. The Paypal verification process is to confirm that you are a LEGIT individual.
I hope all the details you’ve placed on your Paypal account are correct. It helps to check your Paypal details several times (not only do a double check). You can’t use other bank accounts or use false names.
If this is still a problem, I think the best thing to do is to contact EON for that concern.

mommy, ask ko lang.. under the union guide, may ganitong nakalagay:
“Personal Accounts – You can only accept payments monthly and up to 5 credit or debit card payments annually with your Personal account.” ano bang meaning niyan? that you can only withdraw your money via eon ONCE in a month lang? Thanks

andaming ways para magwithdraw. nalilito na ko kng alin gagamitin ko. apply ng paypal tpos apply s union bank tpos pwede din smart money. okaya apply ng debit card. angdaming pwedeng applyan. nalilito na tlga ako. angdaming card. haha!
Pero ng-order n ko debit card, kaso prang mas okay paypal. naicip ko lang kc baka matagal din dumating yung card ng paypal at union bank. Hassle ba mag-apply?

hello po, gusto ko po sana mag tanong? hmm kasi po yung card ko ehh hindi mabukas dun sa eon login? kahit tama naman yung userid ko. and hindi ko rin po sya ma register sa paypal kasi po nag “unabled” na siya. error dw po kasi ,kasi ilang beses ako ng enter ng invalid na 4-digit code . Hindi ko kasi alam na matatagpuan pala yun sa unionbank website.

Hi! On the “link a card to get verified” page on the Paypal site, i can’t seem to find an option to enter Unionbank EON details. the only card type options are Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.

Hi there,
I have this error when linking my eon debit card to my paypal account:
“This credit card has been denied by the bank that issued your credit card. For details on why your card was denied, please contact your credit card issuer’s customer service department. Or, you may want to try adding a different credit card.”
What seems to be the problem? Anyone can help?

Hello everyone. I have a problem regarding on how to confirm my EON card, After i successfully linked or add the card on my paypal, then it will go to the next page on which you have to confirm the card. But when i clicked the submit button, it will say, “We were unable to verify this credit card. Please check if the information you entered is correct. If the problem persists, please try to enter a different credit card.”
What could be the reason behind this? i have successfully enrolled my card on the EON cyber account and it was already activated. How could this happening to my card?

hi, i can’t verify my 4digit paypal to my EON debit card because i can’t log-in unto UnionBank’s debitcard website. My username and password are not working unto EON’s login debitcard website, is it true that i have to wait for 48hours (2days) for me to check details on my 4digit paypal code? that after 2 working days i can now log-in unto EON’s Debitcard webpage?

Hi, nagwithdraw po ako ng money q sa paypal to my eon bank (i used withdraw to my bank account), kaso ang nailagay q na number ay ang card number instead of using the account number. I got confused kasi sa 16 digits na label so akala ko iyong card number ang ilagay. I made the transaction last May 18, 2011 and today is May 26, 2011 so it is now 7 working days since i withdraw the money. Ang tanong ko lang po kung kailan ba maibabalik ang pera ko sa paypal kasi alam kong ire-reject ng bank ang paypal transfer request money? please answer po.. salamat
