More Advertisements Added with the Clean Look in Mind
One of my long overdue plans is now something that I was able to do these past few days: if you are a regular visitor of this blog, you may have noticed that I had added more advertisements and added a featured header on this blog. The featured header is not a WordPress plugin but it a built-in feature of this Flexibility theme v2.0 template which can be turned on and off. I decided to turn on that feature and add more useful content to it through widgets.
Now I’ve decided to work out monetize this technology and freelance blog effectively through several sources not only through actively writing paid reviews. The changes I had made are not really major: I could say these subtle but dramatic. I wanted to have more advertisements posted on the blog by posting at every possible place but I had to choose make my choices so that these would not overpower the blog’s overall appearance and content.

Again, my knowledge in CSS, HTML and programming helped me do those little adjustments. I am not yet finished with this task, but I am very pleased with the initial changes.
I will be working out an “advertise here” page anytime today, so that I can start accepting direct advertisers.

Oooops! I inadvertently submitted the comment unfinished. Anyway, I was going to say, is it difficult to put in widgets for advertisers? Do I have to transfer to WordPress in order to do that?
Please enlighten me. Thanks!

uy nice look. although the problem with footers is that people have to scroll way down to check if there are new comments if they’re on the main page.

am glad for you Gem, know what? I am thinking of moving to my own site to have more freedom, but it is my very limited html know how that somehow give me doubts. However, sadly, I do not think we can move any of our post from Today when i move to a new one, I really start from zero. So, that, is another obstacle too, plus of course, the time I can put into blogging since I hardly have time to write these days

Really clean and pretty looking Gem. Congrats! As for me, it takes ages before I could even change some codes on my templates – hehe, a common problem with non-techie guys like me.

Normally it is not difficult to put in widgets for advertisers. You can also do the same in Blogger using Blogger’s gadget. But you cannot do that on free WordPress.com blogs because it violates their terms of service.

Oh! Today.com does not allow movement of posts? They are monetizing your blogs by putting up their Google ads all around your blog!

That’s why there’s always those other people who can be paid to fix such problems – and I happen to be one of those who earns from “fixing” and modifying templates even if other people had bought premium themes!

wow, looking nice gem. Watch out for the loading time though. Your readers might be bored for waiting up for your site to fully load.

looks good gem, what i don’t like is the way your comment work. it reset my comment every time i use the mouse when editing, so i need to use the arrow key. also i’m getting a bottom scroll bar using my firefox browser, some code might messing the width size of the template.

The site looks great, and the ads are unobtrusive, but I did just notice that if you left click anywhere while you’re typing, what ever you’re typing will be cleared, this can be undone with ctrl+z but some users may not know that.

I also don’t know that until you mentioned that here in this post.
UPDATED: I just decided to put that message in its previous location.

I was still editing this blog’s template today and I suddenly got that bottom scroll bar at the bottom. I tried to retrace my steps earlier today, and now I’ve given up (for the meantime) and resorted to answering comments.
I think I’ve figured out that editing problem that you’ve encountered. I’ve noticed that everything that I had typed on the comments are cleared out. I guess another commenter had that problem. Thanks for telling me.

All my cache are still turned off because I am working on the changes. I’ve got another problem on that bottom scroll bar which suddenly came up. It appears on all types of pages and posts on this blog. I’ve tried retracing my steps and I was not able to figure out the problem.

Site looks great, Gem. I really like the clean look with this theme. This is probably my favorite free theme out there and better than a lot of premium themes. You have also taken it to another level by customizing it to fit your needs and all along the way learning new things that you can then apply to business opportunities that may arise.
The ads do not interfere with the content, which is one thing that always bugs me about some blogs. The only adjustment I might make (not sure until I were to see the outcome) would be to center the Leaderboard Ad, but you may have already done that and decided it looks better as is.
Keep up the great work!

That’s why I changed my blog’s theme again. I can’t seem to work on the broken things on my blog’s previous theme.
I have to agree with what they mentioned about your theme.
I really love the clean and neat look.
Go and accept direct advertisers, this really helps us to keep the blog up.

really nice layout! in times like these we really should look for ways to make some extra money, what better way to add a little more ads on your blog. sometimes, ads even complement the blog’s design.

Hi Gem, with regards to your scrollbar problem. I think it’s your google ads in your header. If you want my help, just send me a message in ym.
Glad to help.

it so hard to keep a clutter free design if you are not a geek. I need to cash out to do minor tweaks on my theme. I prefer a minimalist approach, but I am torn between keeping a clean site and optimising for ads.

I’ve seen the evolution of this blog. And it is really nice and an accomplishment for you Gem. I’m still considering in making a move like what you did, transfer to WP, but as of now I think I’ll stick with Blogger. Again, you are really doing great.
