Help! My Unionbank EON Debit Card Does Not Work With Paypal
Not all ATM/debit cards in the Philippines work with Paypal. There are some credit cards that work for verification, but I have not successfully identified which credit cards that work. But for those who do not own any credit card, then the Unionbank EON card is the only card that can work well for Paypal verification.
Many new Unionbank EON card users are not able to successfully continue with the verification process in Paypal. Even if they got the new card at hand and activated, Paypal would still return the message that it cannot verify the card. This could be frustrating, because it is not really so easy to wait for the Unionbank EON card then finding out that it would not work with Paypal verification.
I think this has something to do with a minor bug on Unionbank EON debit card. The card has to contain any transaction history, even just for one entry before it can be used for Paypal verification. One way to create transaction history is to deposit funds over-the-counter.
Paypal takes away a verification fee of $1.95 from the Unionbank EON bank account, so put in funds that will cover more than this fee in Pesos. If successful this verification fee goes into the Paypal account after a few weeks. If the Paypal verification does not work successfully then the amount deducted by Paypal will be returned in full to your Unionbank EON bank account.
Remember that the Unionbank EON debit card is simply needed for verifying Paypal so that funds can be withdrawn to any Philippine bank account by electronic funds transfer.

wow, this is something new. is this because they haven’t gone through expanded use process yet?

Hi BoobooStrider!
You cannot get the next step in getting the expanded use number (EXPUSE) without getting the card details first – entering the card details is what is exactly mentioned here. Once that the Paypal system accepts the card, it can then generate an EXPUSE number which is reflected among the card’s amount transactions.

Hi Gem
I hope you don’t mind me asking how and where (bank account) do you withdraw your earnings from your freelance job. And I hope it’s not too much to ask, meron ba UnionBank sa Baguio?
I never tried to earn money online..siguro ngayon palang since I’m selling EC credits.
Have you earned from adsense? have you tried to withdraw your earnings from adsense already?
Sorry I asked too much already
Thanks for your time Gem
Take care

Thanks! I don’t really mind being asked a lot. That’s one reason why I had to change the layout of this blog.
I use Unionbank to withdraw my funds. There’s a branch here in Baguio. Withdrawal of funds is free for Unionbank and Metrobank bank accounts.
On Adsense. I haven’t reached the mark yet. I’ve read around that it is now possible to take out earnings from Western Union. I forgot which blogs mention it.

Thanks for the info Gem
I want to quit my job here in Manila and just earn money online. But I have to earn at least $25 a day for 22 days in a month online, that would be around $550 a month to finally say goodbye to my day job. As of now, I can’t even earn $1 a day from my blog..Sigh..I still have a long way to go.
Pag uwi ko Baguio, I’m going to look for UnionBank and apply for the Eon Card.
Thank you once again Gem

That’s a lot for a single blog. If you want to rely on passive income on Adsense then increasing traffic to your site and getting readers that keep on visiting your site is necessary so that you get more clickers.
You might want to consider applying for a card at Unionbank Manila too.

okay na yung problem ko na toh..
magdeposit ka lng ng at least 300 sa EON card mo..
then, try mo ulit i-add yung EON card mo sa Paypal.. tapos hingin mo sa Unionbank yung Paypal Expuse Number mo..

I had been so busy freelancing lately, but thanks for coming back to answer another commenter’s question. The P300 deposit covers the amount that you need to verify Paypal. Actually pwede pa ang P200, just to cover the $1.95 verification amount of Paypal.

I don’t know if this would help pero kung may epassporte account kayo pwede din pang verify sa paypal. I have verified my paypal using my epassporte and had been withdrawing funds from paypal using my epassporte debit card. Question ko lang Gem, di ba pwede i withdraw funds from paypal using the Unionbank EON debit card? Kasi it seems parang pang verify lang ang gamit based from what I’ve read so far, baka naman pwede ring i withdraw funds from paypal to your EON debit card, can you please shed some light on this? Thanks
