Do you just love it when someone blogs and links back to you?
I do, and I found this neat surprise over at oDesk which really got me too excited! The image is taken at one of the oConomy pages section of the site. Pretty neat huh!
I know a handful of bloggers who work with oDesk and had written their own version of blog posts, but I did not think that this blog post about getting paid by the hour in oDesk would make it as one of the helpful resources in their Articles section.
encircled link pointing to one of my blog postsSo far their reward is to give me two awesome free T-shirts that I got from their oDesk store, as a token of appreciation for putting up a good word about them.
oDesk gave me two T-shirts free!

It depends sa skill at sa country. For data entry, Filipinos charge at least $1 per hour, and data entry job takes a lot of hours to finish the task.
Writing jobs are typically at $5 per hour. Programming and web design jobs often run at $10 per hour. Sa programming at web design, kung mas magaling, mas malaki pa ang pwedeng rate. The highest can be at $15.
Pero yan ang rates sa Pinas. Mas mataas (usually triple or more) kung nasa US ka.

Congratulations Gem!
I have an account at Odesk pero hindi pa ako nakaka-take ng jobs. Ang hirap kasi, naka-focus ako sa regular job ko.
I’m glad Odesk is recognizing your contribution with a link to your blog.

Hi jco. Most people who hold full time jobs can’t do freelance on the side, lalo pa sa oDesk. So that’s acceptable.

wow. congrats ms. lady programmer. You deserve it. I saw your profile at oDesk, you’re a very smart woman. I’m new at oDesk. And i haven’t got any job there. Mind if you could share me some advice?
BTW, thanks for visiting my blog. Have you received my email last time?
January 22, 2009 at 11:54 pm
You did? Great! One advice that was helpful for me to get my first job is to really complete your profile. It took me a day but it is worth it.
By the way, I got your email and will be replying to that.

Hi Gem, I have an ODesk account but I’m not using it. Looks very confusing to me, especially that Odesk Team/Share application. I am accepting projects at GetAFreelancer, although I have a full-time job right now. I hope I can manage all the extra work!

nice shirts. I’ve been working via Odesk for 1 year and 4 months now. In terms of pay, job satisfaction and having to choose my own time, no other job comes close. Odesk has been very good to me and my family. Thank you for this blog and to Odesk.
June 13, 2009 at 9:30 pm
You’re welcome. Glad to see another successful oDesk freelancer.
June 16, 2009 at 4:18 pm
Hi gem! I’ve been reading a lot of your blogs, and they are very very informative! I’ve just joined odesk in the last two weeks and have gotten some projects already. However, i have a full time job as a college instructor and school starts the next week so I’m not sure if I can continue with that.. although I already had an offer from a client asking me to work for him full time. huhu, of course I had to decline since i knew i probably couldn’t do two fulltime jobs at the same time. i sort of felt torn because it was a very generous offer with a good compensation/ salary..
Anyway, i’ve read your blogs about odesk and withdrawing the earnings there, and also those topics about freelancing.. and im so happy that there is someone like you who provides a lot of info to us filipinos. by the way, are you from baguio by any chance? hehe, coz i saw someone up there post a comment to you in ilocano, hehe..
thanks and more power! i hope one day i can put up my own website/blog too.
