Some of you may have passed by and noticed the huge “Under Maintenance” sign that I had put up on this blog yesterday. I decided to ditch the old template and use the new release that Flexibility Themes had made for WordPress 2.7!

blog's upgraded look
My primary goal for putting down the blog was to troubleshoot the cause of this blog’s slowdown even if I have those WP Super Cache and WP Widget Cache installed. It turned out that the problem was on one or more of those activated plugins. I was not able to pinpoint which plugins caused the slowdown: what I did was to deactivate those unused ones.

To those Filipinos who are taking out cash from Paypal to any Philippine bank account, I hope you find this tip useful. I’ve actually been saving a lot from doing Paypal to Smart Money transfer. The only amount I have to pay is at least P2.50.

In case you are not aware of Smart Money, it is the blue ATM card that Smart Buddy subscribers can avail. Getting cash this way is secured: even if I get to lose either the cellphone or if the Smart Money card gets lost, a PIN is required first before those funds are accessed. Which search engine would you choose for research? Most of you would answer Google for that.
If I ask you “which web site hosting would you choose to build a website”, then you’ll surely get a lot of varied responses. There is no best web site hosting that is being defined by the majority. An individual or a corporation looking for one that fits them. The choice depends on a number of factors. Here is one great article that cites different factors in choosing a web host: How to choose the best hosting service.
However, there are a number of sites that attempts to categorize and rank web hosts according to their purpose. Web Hosting Geeks is a good example of a web site hosting list. This site makes it easy to choose which web hosts are most suitable in a particular purpose. For example, people who wish to put up blogs can just go to the best blog hosting category to make a choice. Likewise, people who want to build new forums can simply look at the best forum hosting. Those looking for a dedicated server for a full-blown website can also benefit from the listings.
Equally important is the response of a hosting provider’s technical support. To know this, it is essential to ask opinions from several people and to read a web host’s reviews and feedback.

After I had responded to comments left in my blog, I get to see a list of spam. Spam is really something that I don’t want to have. I’ve experienced this when I still have that old blog in WordPress.com.
Unlike the spam that I’ve been receiving before, these spam comments really sound funny. I decided to get snapshots of those images days ago so that I can share them with you. I find them personally amusing. I just don’t know if you had been receiving similar messages.

Finally, I’ve just finished adding not so obvious changes on my personal blog. As some of you may have noticed, I own another personal blog related to my single parenting experience. I was working on that blog layout for two days. That’s a long time to do such modifications on a template, but I was working on the blogger server all time.

Anyway, these are the visible changes: continue reading »
