Happy 25th Birthday Tetris

Jun 6, 2009

Today marks the Silver Anniversary of the Tetris game!

Before Tetris became a game that’s available in the internet and cellphones, the game actually started out in arcades and home entertainment systems. Not long this game became a cheap handheld device which was actually a fad during the 90s – during that time I was one of those high school students who enjoyed such games. Believe me or not, even my grandmother learned to play that gadget to pass out time.

Although Tetris isn’t something that you’d see in game consoles anymore, I still enjoy a full game of Tetris whenever I encounter this game online. I am not playing this game as much as I do in high school, but I still love to pass out time or de-stress with this simple game. Unlike that handheld game I played a decade ago, online Tetris games come in different designs and themes and sometimes the game is accompanied by one or more goals to make it challenging.

This made me think that classic simple games are more memorable than those realistic 3D games that we see around. Also I don’t think that even Microsoft’s Project Natal will simply beat the popularity of Tetris. However, I think will be more interesting to see Tetris implemented on this latest development on Microsoft’s Xbox 360.

I hope you had enjoyed a game of Tetris today either online or in your mobile phone.

Play Tetris Now on their official website.

I found the tune of tetris. The tetris game boy music is awesome. I loved to play that game on my gameboy. I once reached the 99 level i had the game paused for ages… Sad my game boy got fried. I love tetris…
